LOST AND FOUND: A solo show in October 2019 at the 12 Star Gallery, Europe House, Smith Square, London, showed mixed media works relating in different ways to the team of loss, renewal, recycling, retrieval and accidental discovery. The show included texile appliqué works using the negative shapes generated after the cutting out of garments ; it developed the idea of negative spaces in the laser cutting of paper and mild steel using life drawings, transmitted in light onto the wall behind. A fascination with scrap metal and scaffolding and an affinity with African metal art inspired the pieces of recycled metal from scaffolding planks. A series of photographs explored the beauty of the accidental and the found, and the whole exhibition was a celebration of the spirit of ARTE POVERA. (Last three pictures below not in show)
